पृथ्वी की निचली कक्षा यानी लोअर अर्थ ऑर्बिट (LEO) कुछ दिनों में जाम हो जाएगी. सूरज की रोशनी भी फिल्टर होकर आएगी। या शायद वह नहीं आया. कोई अन्य रॉकेट इस कक्षा को पार नहीं कर सका। 100 से 1000 किलोमीटर की ऊंचाई पर इतना ट्रैफिक होना चाहिए.

इस पूरे जोन में फिलहाल 14 हजार से ज्यादा सैटेलाइट हैं. इनमें से साढ़े तीन हजार सैटेलाइट बेकार हो गए हैं. इसके अलावा 12 करोड़ का अंतरिक्ष कबाड़ घूम रहा है। स्पेस ट्रैफिक कोऑर्डिनेशन के लिए बने यूएन पैनल को चिंता है कि इस वक्त देशों, कंपनियों और कॉरपोरेट्स को सैटेलाइट लॉन्चिंग के बारे में सोचना चाहिए. उपग्रहों का प्रक्षेपण सीमित होना चाहिए। अंतरिक्ष से कूड़ा-कचरा साफ किया जाना चाहिए।

क्योंकि अगर बहुत ज्यादा सैटेलाइट होंगे तो उनके ट्रैफिक को मैनेज करना मुश्किल हो जाएगा. संयुक्त राष्ट्र कार्यालय के बाह्य अंतरिक्ष मामलों की निदेशक आरती होला-मेन ने कहा कि हमें अंतरिक्ष के मलबे और पृथ्वी के चारों ओर घूम रहे उपग्रहों को साफ करना होगा। अन्यथा भविष्य में इनके बीच प्रतिस्पर्धा होगी.

धरती पर गिरेंगे सैटेलाइट, मानव मिशन पर खतरा!

आरती ने बताया कि वे धरती पर गिर जायेंगे. अंतरिक्ष अभियानों को इस बेल्ट को पार करना होगा। जिसमें अंतरिक्ष यान और मानवीय मिशनों को ख़तरा हो सकता है. दुनिया के सभी सक्षम देशों, कंपनियों और कॉरपोरेट्स को उपग्रहों की संख्या सीमित करने के बारे में सोचना होगा। इससे समस्या कम हो जाएगी अन्यथा बड़ी परेशानी खड़ी हो सकती है।

विभिन्न उपग्रहों को लॉन्च करने से बेहतर

इसका आसान समाधान यह है कि एक ही उद्देश्य के लिए अलग-अलग देशों को अलग-अलग उपग्रह लॉन्च करने के बजाय संयुक्त रूप से एक ही उपग्रह लॉन्च करना चाहिए। इससे बर्बादी कम होगी. लेकिन इस मामले में समस्या दो सबसे बड़े देश हैं. पहला चीन और दूसरा रूस. अभी अगस्त में ही एक चीनी रॉकेट का एक हिस्सा इसी कक्षा में फट गया था, जिससे मलबे के हजारों टुकड़े बिखर गए थे.

चीन और रूस अंतरिक्ष में भी खतरा बढ़ा रहे हैं

जून में एक बेकार रूसी उपग्रह में विस्फोट हो गया. इससे अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन के अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों को ख़तरा हो गया था. उन्हें एक घंटे के लिए रेस्क्यू मॉड्यूल में शिफ्ट करना पड़ा। पृथ्वी की निचली कक्षा मानव निर्मित उपग्रहों से भरी हुई है। जैसे-जैसे अधिक उपग्रह लॉन्च हो रहे हैं, अंतरिक्ष में टकराव की संभावना भी बढ़ती जा रही है।
